About Us
The Upper Crust was founded in 1988, by the late Daniel Wilson, a former local restaurateur, as one of the first independent caterers in Louisville and for the last 23 years it has remained one of the city’s most pre-eminent and highly respected catering and event services providers. Originally located on Bardstown Road, in the Original Highlands, the Upper Crust remained there for over ten years, until space constraints required that the company relocate to a specially designed catering commissary a short distance away off Newburg Road.
While the scale of the Upper Crust’s business has changed from its modest beginnings, including both intimate gatherings in clients’ homes to large-scale corporate and social events, then as now, the original philosophy of “good food, simply prepared and beautifully presented” has never changed from Dan's original focus. This remains the cornerstone of the Upper Crust’s promise to its customers and to its culinary repertoire. Likewise, the Upper Crust is firmly committed to its staff, many of whom have decades of service with Upper Crust, their families, event planners, chefs, and service personnel. The Upper Crust continues today, guided by Brett Manock, owner and Cindy Lewis, Director of Event Management.
Over the years, the Upper Crust’s loyal clients have included many of Louisville’s most prominent personalities and businesses who have hosted corporate headquarters dedications and product launches, lavish Kentucky Derby galas and charity fundraisers, as well as social events including weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, milestone anniversaries, holiday open houses and New Year’s Eve bashes. However, no matter how large or how small, the Upper Crust’s philosophy and attention to customer service and to detail has remained the hallmark of its commitment to providing the best food and the best service to all it’s clients and within any budget.
